Gold Price per Gram Today
Today's gold price per gram for 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K, 14K and 10K gold is in the live table below, in US dollars. Each figure is the spot ounce price divided by 31.1035, multiplied by the karat's gold content. A second table gives 1 gram of 24K gold in ten other currencies.

International spot equivalents for pure (24K) gold, with no dealer premium, tax or making charge. Karat rows = 24K price × purity. How we calculate
How the price per gram is calculated
Gold is traded wholesale in troy ounces, so every per-gram price is derived. One troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. The steps are:
- Take the spot price per troy ounce in US dollars.
- Divide by 31.1035 to get the price of one gram of pure (24K) gold.
- Multiply by the karat's fineness: 0.916 for 22K, 0.875 for 21K, 0.75 for 18K, 0.585 for 14K, 0.417 for 10K.
- Multiply by the exchange rate if you need another currency.
Worked example by karat
Using an illustrative spot price of $4,150 per ounce:
| Karat | Fineness | Calculation | Price per gram |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24K | 0.999 | 4,150 ÷ 31.1035 | $133.43 |
| 22K | 0.916 | 133.43 × 0.916 | $122.22 |
| 21K | 0.875 | 133.43 × 0.875 | $116.75 |
| 18K | 0.750 | 133.43 × 0.75 | $100.07 |
| 14K | 0.585 | 133.43 × 0.585 | $78.05 |
| 10K | 0.417 | 133.43 × 0.417 | $55.64 |
The 24K figure is treated as pure gold. In practice 24K bullion is 99.9% or 99.99% fine, a difference too small to matter at retail. Each karat has its own live page: 24K, 22K, 21K, 18K, 14K and 10K.

Valuing a piece by weight
To estimate the gold value of an item, multiply its net gold weight in grams by the per-gram price for its karat. A 14K bracelet weighing 12.5 grams, at the illustrative $78.05 per gram, contains about $975.63 of gold (12.5 × 78.05). A jeweller selling that bracelet will charge more for design, labour and margin; a buyer of scrap gold will pay less, typically a percentage of melt value after testing. The gold calculator does this with the live price, and the scrap gold calculator estimates what a refiner or buyer might offer.
Two practical points. First, weigh in grams, not pennyweights or ounces; many US jewelers quote pennyweight (1 dwt = 1.555 grams), and mixing units is a common source of error. Second, subtract stones: a ring's total weight includes diamonds or gems, and only the gold counts toward melt value.
From one gram to the weights people actually buy
Once you have the per-gram figure, any other weight is a multiplication. At the illustrative 24K price of $133.43 per gram:
| Weight | Grams | Calculation | 24K value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 pennyweight (dwt) | 1.5552 | 133.43 × 1.5552 | $207.51 |
| 5-gram bar | 5 | 133.43 × 5 | $667.15 |
| Sovereign / pavan weight | 8 | 133.43 × 8 | $1,067.44 |
| 10 grams | 10 | 133.43 × 10 | $1,334.30 |
| 1 tola | 11.6638 | 133.43 × 11.6638 | $1,556.30 |
| 100-gram bar | 100 | 133.43 × 100 | $13,343.00 |
Rounding the gram price to cents before multiplying adds a small error on large weights; the tola row computed from the unrounded spot price is $1,556.25, five cents lower. For tola and kilo pricing with live figures, see gold price per tola and gold price per kilogram.
Why the per-gram price differs between countries
The second table shows pure international parity, so a gram in rupees or dirhams there equals the dollar price times the exchange rate. Local shop rates diverge because of import duty (6% in India), VAT or GST, dealer premiums and local supply. Indian readers should use the gold rate in India, which adds duty, and Gulf readers the UAE gold rate. For a fixed single-gram reference in many currencies, see 1 gram gold rate.
