Gold Price Today in Indonesia
The live table shows the gold price in Indonesia in rupiah per gram, for common bar sizes from 1 g to 100 g and for jewellery karats. Antam Logam Mulia bars and other branded bars sell above this world-parity level and are bought back below it, so the spread decides what you really pay.

How Indonesian gold prices are set
The rupiah gold price starts from the world price in dollars converted at the USD/IDR rate. On top of that, each seller publishes its own price list. The best-known is Antam, the state-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang, whose precious metals unit sells Logam Mulia (LM) bars. Antam updates a daily selling price per bar size and a separate buyback (harga buyback) price per gram. Other refiners, bullion shops and online platforms set their prices with reference to the same world price and to Antam's list.
Small bars cost more per gram than large ones. A 0.5 g or 1 g bar carries the fabrication and packaging cost of a much bigger bar spread over very little gold, so its per-gram price is noticeably higher than a 100 g bar's. Compare per-gram prices, not bar prices.
Bars, jewellery and gold savings
| Product | Purity | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Antam Logam Mulia bars | 99.99% | Daily list per bar size, buyback per gram |
| Other branded bars | 99.99% | Seller's list, usually near Antam |
| Jewellery (perhiasan) | Often 22K down to 9K, stated in karat or as 700, 375 etc. | Per gram for the karat plus workmanship (ongkos) |
| Pegadaian gold savings | Account balance in grams | Buy and sell from small amounts; print as bars later |
Pegadaian, the state pawnshop company, is widely used both for pawning jewellery and for its gold savings account, which lets people buy gold in small amounts and convert the balance into physical bars once it reaches a set size. Low-karat jewellery, sometimes called emas muda, is popular because it is cheaper per gram, but it holds less gold and sells back at a correspondingly lower price.
Tax on bar purchases
Purchases of gold bars from Antam and some other sellers can be subject to income tax withholding (PPh 22), shown on the invoice; the rate has depended on whether the buyer provides a tax identification number (NPWP). Rules have been revised over time, so check the current treatment with the seller. Jewellery invoices from shops may or may not show a separate tax line.
Worked example (illustrative)
Suppose world parity is Rp2,200,000 per gram, a 10 g Logam Mulia bar sells for Rp23,400,000 and the buyback price is Rp2,150,000 per gram:
| Item | Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Bar price | 10 g bar | Rp23,400,000 |
| Per gram paid | Rp23,400,000 ÷ 10 | Rp2,340,000 |
| Premium over parity | Rp2,340,000 − Rp2,200,000 | Rp140,000/g |
| Buyback value | 10 g × Rp2,150,000 | Rp21,500,000 |
| Round-trip cost | Rp23,400,000 − Rp21,500,000 | Rp1,900,000 (≈ 8.1%) |
All figures are examples. Any tax withheld at purchase would add to the cost. The lesson is that bars are a medium- to long-term holding: the world price has to rise by the size of the spread before you break even.
Where people buy
Antam operates its own boutiques (Butik Emas LM) in major cities, and its bars are resold by bullion shops, banks, online marketplaces and Pegadaian. Jewellery is bought in traditional gold shops (toko emas) in markets such as Pasar Baru and Cikini in Jakarta and their equivalents in Surabaya, Medan and Makassar, where per-gram prices are posted for each karat. Demand rises before Eid al-Fitr (Lebaran) and the wedding season.
Checklist
- Buy bars with an intact certificate and packaging; resale is easier and buyback is faster.
- Compare per-gram price across bar sizes, and check the buyback price on the same day.
- For jewellery, ask for the karat (kadar) in writing and keep the receipt (surat), which shops use when buying back.
- Be wary of very cheap "24K" jewellery; pure gold jewellery is soft and rarely sold cheaply.
